The 27th and 28th of January marked the date for the IPL auction. As many as 581 players were auctioned and the franchises were all ready with their strategies to get the best possible team. In order to get the permutations and combinations of the team right, there went a fierce battle between the franchises for some best of the players which in turn resulted in the price of the players go sky rocketing.

So, here are the top 10 buys in the Indian Premier League auction 2018.

1. Ben Stokes: (12.5 crore)


The highest paid foreign player in the previous edition of the IPL still remains in his place of getting paid heavily. His stint with Rising Pune Super giants wherein he performed splendidly in their road to the final helped Stokes get a good bid this year. His ability to bludgeon the bowlers and his potential to smother the best of the batsman is a boon for any team he plays for. Averaging 31 with the bat and an economy of 7 with the ball makes Stokes the most yearned all-rounder.

2. Jaydev Unadkat:(11.5 crore)

The costliest Indian bowler in this edition of the IPL picked by Royal Challengers Banglore – Jaydev Unadkat has played a crucial part for the Rising Pune Supergaints in the previous season of the IPL. This left arm fast bowler from Gujarat with two 5-fers to his name and a hat-trick in the last over of the match is often lauded for his ability to hit consistent lengths and swing the ball both ways. Unadkat, with his slow ball bouncers and variations in his pace can stop any batsman from going big and add balance to the side.

3. LKL Rahul:(11crore):

5. Chris Lynn: (9.6 crore)

This explosive Australian batsman who is often hailed for his big hits has been an integral part of KKR(Kolkata Knight Riders) since 2014. An opener decides the fate of the match in high scoring games and Lynn is an apt opener in the shortest format of the game for his ability to take the opposition for a toll right from the word ‘go’. 6. Mitchell Starc: (9.4 crore)

Another Australian in the KKR’s squad is this destructive pacer – Mitchell Starc. His tremendous stint with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous edition of the IPL where he picked 17 wickets in 14 matches urged the management to pick him via RTM(Right to match) for a price of 900 million rupees. Picking 42 wickets in just 27 games at a staggering average of 14 and an amusing economy makes Rashid Khan the most coveted T20 bowler. Rashid adds balance to the side for his expertise in picking up wickets at regular intervals and not allowing the batsman to get under the skin of his team.

9. Krunal Pandya:(8.8 crore)

This left- handed all-rounder from Baroda has played a crucial part in Mumbai Indians road to the cup in the previous season of the IPL. Krunal swindled the batsman with variations in his pace. A handy middle-order batsman and a tricky bowler to face, he has had some splendid performances for his state side which made the Mumbai Indians franchise to buy him through RTM for a price of 880 million rupees. 10. Kedar Jadhav:(7.8 crore)

This attacking Middle order batsman hailing from Maharashtra in India has had a tremendous period with the Indian cricket ever since his debut. Batting in middle and lower middle order, Jadhav has left no stone unturned making most of the opportunities he got. He was the answer to India’s middle order woes. His ability to time the ball well and hit it through the gaps braced up with his hitting abilities is a lifeline for the team he plays for. His newly developed skill- off break bowling with a unique and typical action has been a boon more than a bane for India and his quick overs in the middle will make the difference.
