KKR Selects Their Captain for IPL 2018
Amidst all the speculations about who will be the new captain of Kolkata Knight Riders,after they decided not to retain/buy their seasoned captain Gautam Gambhir, the KKR officials have announced Dinesh Karthik as their captain ahead of the 11th edition of the IPL. Robin Uthappa, who was one among the top contenders for this job, has been named the vice-captain.
The 32-year old Dinesh Karthik, who was picked up by the Knight Riders for ₹7.4 crore in the mega-auction , has previous experiences of successful captaincy, leading Tamil Nadu to the title of Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2009-10 season & also led India Red to a Duleel Trophy title triumph in 2017. In the T20s, he led Tuti Patriots to TNPL championship in 2016.

The wicket-keeper batsman,playing for Gujarat Lions in IPL 2017,scored 361 runs at an average of 36.1. His most successful IPL season came in the sixth edition in which he scored 510 runs in helping Mumbai Indians to their first-ever IPL championship in 2013. Overall, he has scored 2903 runs at an impressive strike rate of 125.94 and effected 114 dismissal in his IPL career spanning 152 matches.
