Kings XI Punjab added to their strong squad.

It’s been a topsy turvy ride for The Mohali based franchise in the past 10 seasons of the IPL.

This time though, the franchise bought some big names and managed to put together a strong all round outfit.

The 21 member squad appears to be one of the teams to watch out this season

Likes of Yuvraj Singh,KL Rahul, David Miller, Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal, Aaron Finch, Chris Gayle, Stoinis in the batting lineup will ensure that KXIP will give the opposition bowlers a hard time this season.

The in-form Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair can will be the youngsters to watch out.

But there are certain issues that KXIP will have to sort out. Veterans like Gayle and Yuvraj might’ve just passed their best. There is no one in the Squad who can replace these two if they don’t perform. After impressing in couple of seasons, David Miller has underperformed for Punjab in his earlier stint. He will be under pressure to repay the franchise’s faith in him.

The likely batting order for KXIP will be-

The likely batting order for KXIP will be- KL Rahul, Finch/Gayle , Nair, Yuvraj, Miller, Stoinis, Axar Patel/Manoj Tiwary

>Starman- KL Rahul. KXIP dished out 11cr on the young Indian opener knowing that he can not only score runs consistently but can get them at a fair Strike rate. The lanky Rahul will be looking to make the most of this opportunity and give his team rollicking start in the powerplay.

>Rating of the batting lineup-8/10

The bowling lineup looks stable with KXIP welcoming Mohit Sharma back to lead the attack. In Andrew Tye they have a T20 bowler that’s in the form of his life.

But their biggest strength is undoubtedly is spin. Skipper Ashwin and Axar Patel are known for not giving any easy runs. The miserly bowling from these two can prove to be the difference this season. The Afghan teen off spinner, Mujeeb Zadran and left arm spinner, Mayank Dagar are there as back u5p in the side.

However, the inexperience of players like Rajpoot, Barinder Sran can get the side in trouble in pressure situations in death overs. The bowling of Aussie all rounder Marcus Stoinis will be under the scanner too as he’ll have to do the 5th bowler’s role on tracks that aren’t conducive to spin.

>Starman- R.Ashwin.The captain of the KXIP is one of the most successful spinners in the history of IPL. His economy rate has been one of the best ever. All eyes will be on the 30 year old to derail the opposition Batsmen with his bag of tricks.

>Rating (Bowling )-7.5/10

Axar Patel, David Miller and Stoinis stand out as the best fielders in this side. KXIP has a good mix of youth and experience.

Youngsters like Nair,Agarwal are good in the field too.

But R.Ashwin,Yuvraj and Gayle are players that will have to give more than 100% to match up to the standards of some of the other teams .

KL Rahul as a Keeper will be under scrutiny. Since he iA regular keeper, we may see few lapses from him behind the stumps

>Rating (fielding)-7/10

R.Ashwin will be captaining an IPL side for the 1st time.He is a shrewd thinker of the game and is known for feeding interesting inputs to outfox the opposition. It will be a challenge for him to take over a franchise that hasn’t done well historically. His man management skills will be put to test. The champion off spinner will take this stint as opportunity to develop his reputation as an all round cricketer.

>Overall rating-7.5/10

A squad that has all bases covered. The presence of experienced players in the dressing room will provide a stable environment which is key to success of any team.

The spin department ,Indian Batsmen are the strengths of KXIP.A lot will depend on the pitches at Mohali. We may not see seaming friendly tracks anymore there.

A lot will depend on how quickly the team gels.Once the XI will be settled The results will be there. On paper, this team is capable of making to the playoffs.
