AFC Asian Cup Qualification: Kyrgyz Republic VS India Preview

Indian football team is stepping into 2018’s first international match against Kyrgyz Republic in the AFC Asian Cup Qualification’s final group stage match. As the Indian football’s domestic season (I-League and ISL) has finally come onto a conclusion, the Indian team is playing an international match almost after 4 months. The same way Kyrgyz Republic too, but in between, they played friendly matches against Mongolia and Brunei and they pursued victory on both occassions.

Team Details

○Kyrgyz Republic:

Kyrgyz Republic was qualified to AFC Asian Cup 2019, as the team finished in 2nd place in Group-A at the end of the 5th Round. If they finish the Qualification round with a victory against India as a goal ratio of 3-0, they can end as 1st in the group as per the Goal difference. The 115th ranked team had started the year with a 5-1 victory against Myanmar and as a result, they got qualified. This was a one side game which ended in favour of the home side. The opening goal came from Shamshiev in the 2nd minute which was his 1st International goal. The next two goals came from Zemlianukhin, the attacking Midfielder has scored 2 goals and in the overall qualification round he had scored 9 Goals. Then the 2 goals came from Lux and Sagynbaev. Not only this game, the friendlies which were played earlier with Mongolia and won the game by 3-0, with Brunei lost the match by 4-0.. So on Tuesday also we can expect goals from The White Falcons unless Constantine prepares his defence well. Murazev and Baymatov have been cause of headache to the Indian defenders along with Shamshiev and Zemilanukim in the first leg. Kyrgyz goalie Matiash is having 2 Cleansheets in his last 5 matches and the performance by him in last week against Myanmar will give him the confidence to meet team India. The match is taking place in Bishkek, so the team will be trying to end this match with a win for their home fans.

○India:

India did not lose any match in the Qualification round, and also has scored 10 goals conceeding only 3 goals. This shows their strength on the defensive side. The Indian Captain and star striker Sunil Chhetri will not play against Kyrgyz Republic due to the multiple yellow cards he had pocketted in the previous matches. When the Head Coach Stephen Constantine announced the 31 men probable for this match there were lot of negative consequences and unhappiness among the Indian fans, because Constantine has not given chance to the talents who have shown their quality in ISL and I-League this season and surprisingly India’s experienced shot-stopper Subrata Paul has been dropped from the squad as well. He was the Golden Glove winner in ISL-4. To control Kyrgyz Republic attackers, India could play with 5 midfielders if Constantine is changing the teams’ formation, maybe he could because Chhetri is not there. The team’s captaincy could be taken up by Gurpreet Singh. The Defence and Midfield of India are strong if they are in good tempo and India can clinch the victory easily.

Writer’s take :

Both the teams were in equal strength in the last leg and have qualified for 2019 AFC Asian Cup. The result of this match will not affect anything practically unless rankings. But in my opinion, India should play more friendly match against various teams especially in away conditions that could gain them the exposure. In the same way, when we see the Kyrgyz Republic they are going to play friendly against Azerbaijan by May. So what will happen in this match is tough to predict but a draw looks on the cards unless Indian defence falters.
