Final of HBL PSL season 3 had everything on offer. It started on amonotonous note with Peshawar Zalmi batsmen found it tough make proper connection between the sphere and the willow in the initial exchanges. Their innings saw late surge to make it a contest but blazing start from United made it one sided again, another twist in the tale as zalmi bowlers presented impasse in United’s way but Islamabad united been able to cruise through to the victory in the end.

The final had many aspects to have a discussion about. Let’s have a look out at top 5 things about it :

Great crowd at Karachi :

Lack of crowd has been the biggest drawback regarding popularity of PSL as it’s main location has been neutral ie. UAE so far but whenever it has come to Pakistan, big multitude have adopted it.

Final night was scheduled at Karachi to consolidate the influence and despite not finding home franchise Karachi Kings in final set up, people turned up to the stadium in profuse creating festivity all around with vibrant ambience. Big crowd was also corroborating that PSL is a weighty project if it is happening in Pakistan.

Luke Ronchi outfaced Kamran Akmal :

As much as final was between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United, as much as it was between two flamboyant wicket keeper batsmen from each side. Both been kingpin for their respective sides to take them into the finals but uttermost cut remains.
Kamran Akmal got the first spell and he dismayed with rough-hewn stay of 9 balls to muster only 1 run. As a hangover Peshawar innings just could not get enough momentum throughout and finished with a modest 148 in 20 overs.

On the contrary Luke Ronchi didn’t miss out the occasion and banged Zalmi bowlers with utmost briskness. His 26 balls 52 provided Islamabad United the headway that even a dense cross period that saw united lost 6 wickets in 32 balls scoring only 20 runs could not displace them off the way to the title.

English players imprinting in :

Bulk of final action went up to English players with Samit Patel tracking down two mainstays of Peshawar Zalmi’s top order Kamran akmal and Mohammad Hafeez with his left arm off spin to beat off their prospects to start the night on a high!

Following this two other Englishmen Chris Jordan and Liam Dawson absorbed the mantle to take Zalmi’s innings to a fighting total with scores of 36 and 33 respectively, both being top scorer of the innings! Chris Jordan didn’t stop here and shimmered with the ball as well snapping two important wickets and a scintillating catch to vivify the action heading towards one way terrific!

Birth of a star :

Hails from Faisalabad 26 years old Asif Ali has had a reputation of a smasher in the  shortest format of the game in domestic circuit. Playing his debut PSL season Asif plucked many eyeshot with his sporty hitting at league stage.
It could not be bigger stage and better circumstances to ratify the perception and Asif Ali did not miss out, smashing top international bowler Hasan Ali for three consecutive sixes to wipe out all the odds for Zalmi that emerged as the consequence of sudden fall of wickets.

26 off 6 balls in a big final is enough paragon of PSL awarding another big talent to Pakistan cricket.

Islamabad United made it a brace :

It was not only the final of PSL 3 but also the final of whole PSL so far as both one time winner of PSL Islamabad united and Peshawar Zalmi were out to become the first team to touch the coveted trophy twice. In a stiff contest inaugural winner Islamabad united held it’s nerves to come on top to clinch the title  for the second time in three years and doused their fans in joy!
