Indian Super Cup: NEROCA FC V Kerala Blasters Preview

Highlanders NEROCA FC will face Kerala Blasters in the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar on Friday. Gift Raikhan’s side will be looking to continue their dream run against the mighty opponent.

Team News :

Kerala Blasters will be not having their two star players Dimitar Berbatov and Wes Brown ahead of this important match of Super Cup as both has left after the ISL. Whereas NEROCA would be attacking with their full team against the Kerala outfit. Coach Gift Raikhan would be relying on the Northeast players and the foreigners who have played well through out the season. Gift Raikhan might seek encouragement from the performances of other highlanders Aizawl FC and Shillong Lajong FC enroute to this round of 16 clash against Kerala Blasters. The match between two teams who have attracted the highest attendance in two top flight leagues this season is surely expected to be a match of high intensity.

Recent Form :

It’s been a fantastic season for the Manipuri side. After winning the 2nd divison I-League they’ve finished the I-League on a high remaining 2nd in the table. Gift Raikhan’s young brigade will be hoping another inspired show against the ISL side. Eyes will be on the Varney Kallon and Felix Chidi. They both have played magnificent roles behind NEROCA’s achievement this season. Varney Kallon has been chosen as the best stopper of I-League where as Felix Chidi has scored 7 goals in the season.

On the other hand, It’s been another disappointing season for Kerala Blasters where they failed to qualify for the playoff. David James’ side will be looking to end off the season on a high note. They’ll be relying on their local players and their remaining foreigners. Eyes will be on CK Vineeth who had a mixed performance this year.

Writer’s Take :

NEROCA FC will be looking to continue their dream run in Hero Super Cup against the mighty Blasters. Where after a disappointing ISL campaign, David James’ will be trying to end the season with a positive note despite of the absense of their two prime players. I-League clubs have been giving tough competition to ISL teams and Blasters would hope to pull out anything positive of this match then they have to give their against one of the gutsiest teams in Indian club football this season.
