The cricketing World is all set for the opening match of VIVO IPL 2018. After the journey of ten successful years IPL is now on its 11th year. Two must successful franchises in the history of the tournament will go head to head at Wankhede Stadium on the opening day of the eleventh edition of the cash-rich T20 league.
● Team News and Probable XI:
Both the teams are practising hard and prepared to give their 100% on the field. All players are fit. Both team doesn’t have any injury concerns.
Probable Starting XI:
○ Chennai Super Kings:
Chennai have plenty to chose in the top order but with Watson in good form he is a sure shot choice to open the innings. Murali Vijay will partner him. Their middle order seems set with experienced campaigners in the form of Raina, Dhoni and Jadhav. Jadeja might bat up the order too as Dhoni said. Dwyane Bravo will lead thier attack with Shardul and Wood.
As they have opened spin academy there is plenty to choose in that department but looking at the recent performances, Tahir will be their spinner they might start with.
Murali Vijay, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambaiti Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C) (WK), Kedar Jadhav, Dwyane Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Mark Wood, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir
○ Mumbai Indians:
On the other side, home team Mumbai is boosted with their all-rounders. Lewis and Kishan will open the innings with Rohit at number 3.
Pandya brothers, Pollard and Surya Kumar Yadav will follow them. They have a good fast bowling unit comprising of Bumrah, Cummins, Fizz and Mclenaghen. Spin department is the worry for the Mumbai franchise. Chahal is expected to lead their spin attack . Don’t be surprised if Tajinder Singh Dhilon makes into XI.
Evin Lewis, Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Pat Cummins, Fizz/Mclenaghen, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah
● Head To Head:
CSK have the better head to head record against every IPL team except MI, who lead 13 to 11 in 24 meetings between the two teams. Even in IPL finals, the Mumbai franchise hold a 2-1 edge over the Chennai franchise. Chennai Super Kings have won just four of their ten meetings with Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. MI vs CSK has by far been the greatest battle in this tournament.
