This Saturday, April 7th WBA and IBO Light Middleweight Champion Erislandy Lara puts his titles on the line against IBF Light Middleweight Champion Jarrett Hurd.
Erislandy Lara is one of the longest reigning champions in boxing winning the title in June of 2013 against Alfredo Angulo, and he is widely considered to be one of the most skilled in the sport. Lara is facing the least experienced champion currently in the Light. Middleweight Division, the unorthodox and extremely powerful Jarrett Hurd, who won his title in February of 2017 against Tony Harrison.
Both men are confident of emerging victorious in Saturday’s fight, which should set up a match against WBC Light Middleweight Champion Jermell Charlo. Saturday’s fight will be a rare unification bout in the Light Middleweight division, but it is just the latest in a number of recent unification fights in boxing over the past few years. The last boxer to hold the undisputed Light Middleweight championship was “Ronald Winky Wright” in 2005. The bout will be televised live on Showtime.
