The clash of the titans is back. It doesn’t get any bigger than this, Mohun Bagan locking horns against the Bengaluru FC. It will be a fiery atmosphere as the two heavy weights face off at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar. The clash between these two teams didn’t fail to disappoint. The games have always been fiercely contested both on and off the field. Off the field, contest between both set of fans would put this game among one of the finest in Asia. The relentless chants, pyro techniques will give the game a Derby like atmosphere till it comes down to a crescendo in the Kalinga Stadium. The acoustics of the Kalinga Stadium is bad, it doesn’t hold the noise in as all stadiums would, but little would matter to the sets of fans who are travelling to catch the game as they would be prepared to kill their voices to spur on their players to victory.
Mohun Bagan form last 5 matches:

Bengaluru FC form last 5 matches:

Both the teams have shown incredible patch of forms. Mohun Bagan in their last five matches have been nigh perfect with their only draw coming in the final day of the I league at Kerala against Gokulam. While, Bengaluru after their disappointing final loss to Chennaiyan FC have been almost perfect. Putting teams to sleep with their talismanic captain Sunil Chettri in red hot form. This will be a case of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
The outfits have met 13 times so far with Mohun Bagan having the upper hand in most of their meetings. Mohun Bagan have won 5 in comparison to Bengaluru’s 2 wins, while there where 6 ties. It would be interesting to note that the games between the two have averaged 2.8 goals a match. So, we would be expecting a high scoring end to end game

Our take on the match:
This will be an interesting matchup. Both the teams have the firepower to pack a punch. This is not the same Mohun Bagan team as it used to be as most of their stars have left for greener pastures in the ISL while the BFC team is one of the finest in the country. However, it will be foolish to take Mohun Bagan lightly as they have they have enough fire power in the likes of veteran Akram Morghabi and the man with the midas touch Dipanda Dicka. It will all be about who wins the battle in the middle. Cameroon Watson will look forward to prove a point against his former club. The midfield duo of Cameroon Watson and Yuta Kinowaki would look to control the game against the likes of Perez, Paartalu and Lenny. The Mohun Bagan gaffer, Shankarlal is a shrewd customer as he often lets one of his strikers to play deep from the midfield and create more space in the flanks for the likes of Nikhil Kadam and Sk.Fayaz to wreak havoc in the opposition defence. Albert Roca would be hoping for another inspirational performance from their star man Sunil Chettri. The Mohun Bagan defence led by Eze Kingsley would look to keep the opposition star studded front line in check. All said and done, there is no defence in India that could stop an in form Sunil Chettri. Mohun Bagan would be hoping that they have appeased the gods of football with their “bar pujo(a ceremony in which the goal post is worshipped, and a new goal post is erected)” on the occasion of Bengali new year.
For those who couldn’t travel to Bhubaneshwar, donot miss the stadium like atmosphere that will be created at the Fanatic Sports Museum.
