This week’s WWE Monday Night Raw took place in Montreal, Canada.
— Opening Segment.
Roman Reigns comes to the ring accompanied by Boos from the Montreal crowd. He says that he should be the Universal Champion, but the referee’s error in judgement costed him his title. But he won’t complain for that. In the meantime, he is interrupted by Samoa Joe, who talks about his match with Reigns on Sunday. However, he is interrupted by Jinder Mahal, who also wants to get his hands on Roman.
Subsequently, Sami and Kevin also come out to huge Pops from the hometown crowd. Both of them want to fight Roman. However, Roman punches Owens. Thus the three heels along with Sunil Singh give a four on one beatdown on Roman. To even the odds, Bobby Lashley comes to the ring. And Braun Strowman comes to the ring as well. In the end, Strowman stands tall with Lashley and Reigns as the fans pop.
Here’s the compilation of 5 major talking points from the episode:
1. Elias vs Bobby Roode
This was a weird match. The beginning was okayish. There was descent action, but towards the end, it was all confusion. Elias sent Bobby Roode throat-first into the turnbuckle and thus, he falls out to the floor. The referee checks on Roode and declares that he will not be able to continue since he’s having breathing Problem and calls for the medic. While, Elias announced that he’s the winner.
– The Authors of Pain vs [Local Talents] Jean-Paul and Francois
– Hilarious Miztourage segment with Balor and Rollins
2. Sasha Banks vs Ruby Riott
Winner: Ruby Riott
This was actually a good match. There was tension involved here specially regarding Bayley. Will she appear? Will she help Sasha? Or will she distract her?
Anyway, the match in itself was quite entertaining, and the finish came when Ruby delivered the Riott Kick for the pin.
– Backstage segment involving Titus O’Neil and his Hilarious slide at the GRR.
3. Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs Bobby Lashley, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman
Winner: Lashley, Reigns, Strowman.
This was a decent match, but hilariously enough, members from both the team got huge pops (and boos as well).
It was simply delightful to see Braun Strowman. WWE should now focus on giving this man gold.
Also not to forget, Sami and Kevin were also very very impressive, and they probably got the best cheers of the night. However, the ending came when, Owens attempts for a cannonball. But Strowman catches him and gives a running powerslam for the pin.
4. Baron Corbin vs. No Way Jose
Winner: No Way Jose.
A short quick and ridiculous match. Atleast, No way Jose got a win. But sadly, Corbin has now become a joke, WWE hasn’t done justice to his character at all. And now it’s looking like he’ll be having a feud with Titus O’Neil, which will go nowhere.
5- Mickie James vs. Natalya
A mediocre match which saw Ronda Rousey in Natalya’s corner. Let’s hope that WWE does a good booking for Ronda, and not just this friendship stuff with Natalya.
6. WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins
Easily the best match of the night. Moreover, these two are simply the best. Each and every match they put forth is simply gold! Their in-ring chemistry is simply fantastic!
It’s no mystery for anyone that these two guys can put on instant classic matches.
There were many close calls, but the end came when Rollins hits a Blackout for the pin.
Seth Rollins is indeed, “Monday Night Rollins”.
