Mahendra Singh Dhoni is and has been an inspiration not only to millions of his followers across the Globe, but also to some other young sportsmen arising in different sports across India.
One of them being the current World number 3 in Men’s Badminton, none other than shuttler Kidambi Srikanth. Another product of Pullella Gopichand’s successful badminton academy, Srikanth has scaled to new heights after becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Indonesian Open & Singapore Open, thereby ending the supremacy of the Chinese shuttlers.
Past Friday, Srikanth received an unexpected gift from BCCI’S chief selector MSK Prasad in Hyderabad at an event. It was a personally signed cricket bat from one of his sporting idols Mahendra Singh Dhoni which he received.
Srikanth was stunned and couldn’t control his emotions.
In an interview to TOI, he admitted how watching the World Cup winning Indian Captain in crunch moments helped him get over anxiety while being in pressure situations on the court. He also admitted that whenever he is under pressure, he visualises himself under the cap of Dhoni and that has helped him to be at the top of his game.
