● Team News with Probable XI:
○ Chennai Super Kings:
This franchise filled with a squad full of senior players were not given a chance by many before the start of this season. But as they say “Nothing can replace experience”, and that’s exactly what the CSK players let everyone know with their performances. Each match, they’ve had a different player step-up to the occasion. First it was Bravo, Billings, then came the vintage Dhoni that all the fans were waiting since a long time and it was Faf du Plessis in the Qualifier 1. They’ve had match-winning contributions from the bowlers Chahar, Ngidi. But 2 players were standout for them throughout the season. They performed well even when everybody around them failed. The players, Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu, lifted the CSK team to unreachable heights.
MS Dhoni being back to the yellow jersey after two years has had a positive impact on his own performances. He has led brilliantly, made some brave bowling and fielding changes, and brought out the best of newbies Deepak Chahar and Lungi Ngidi. His batting has been a revelation and he has finished many games for CSK this season.
Coming into the finals, CSK will be high on confidence. All their batsmen look in fine touch although they had failed against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the qualifier. Their bowling, which seemed to be their weakest link has found a new bite with the inclusion of Lungi Ngidi. His swing upfront and accuracy at the death has made life difficult for the opposition batsmen. Dwayne Bravo’s form with the ball will be a concern for Dhoni but he has enough backup reserves in the XI to cover up for that.

○ SunRisers Hyderabad:
The underdogs, SunRisers surprised everyone with their consistency and the way they’ve won games with the ball. This is a team, who have always played under the radar. Their auction for IPL 2018 went good and their squad was rated the highest by the experts. But their IPL 2018 campaign was dealt with a huge blow right before the start of the season due to Cricket Australia’s ban on their captain, David Warner under controversial circumstances.
The replacement captain, Kane Williamson brought a sense of calmness which was needed to the squad. He lead brilliantly from the front, be it with his new-found dimension classic batting or with his clever field and bowler changes. He has used his players really well and played his trump card, Rashid Khan, whenever the team were staring defeat. His spot-on captaincy along with the bowlers’ stellar performances helped SunRisers defend low totals against strong batting line-ups comprising of world’s top batsmen.
In the Finals, SRH will be seething to take revenge against CSK, having lost to them in the final moments of the Qualifier-1. Unlike CSK, the SunRisers have quite a few problems of their own. Throughout the season, their batting never peaked and were overly-dependant on Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson to put the runs on the board. There middle-order has failed all-throughout and Manish Pandey, whom they spent huge bucks on, to address the weak middle-order issue, never found form. The SunRisers peaked to early in the competition and lost four games on the trot coming into the second qualifier. Their bowlers took a beating in the final stages of the league and the team looked like they lost their steam. But after posing a brilliant comeback with the ball in the Qualifier-2 against Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad would be upbeat and will be looking to end their IPL Season XI campaign on a positive note.

● Writer’s Take :
Chennai Super Kings have been the team to watch-out for throughout this season and it is no different in the Finals. They will be high on confidence and would be looking to seal the Finals with 4th consecutive victory against SRH this season and their successful campaign with a trophy. SunRisers Hyderabad on the other hand have nothing to lose having lost all their previous encounters with Chennai in this season. Their bowlers have found the lost touch back in their last two games and SRH will be hoping for them to win the Finals for the team. Rashid Khan, who turned the game on its head against KKR in the qualifier will be key to SRH’s chances.
