Intercontinental Cup : India V Kenya Match Preview 0

unnamed - Intercontinental Cup : India V Kenya Match Preview

The third match of the Intercontinental Cup is to be played between India and Kenya. Both the teams had won their 1st game, so both the Blue tigers as well as the Harambee stars will like to continue their winning streak and cement their step into the final. It will also be the 100th game for Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri, do for him the players were try to give the win as a gift to him, a win which will ensure a spot in the Final. So a tough match is seemingly awaiting for us in the Mumbai Football Arena.

Team Details :

● India :

It can be said with almost surity that there will be no major change in the starting XI as it is a Friendly and six players can be rotated. Constantine will rotate the players on the course of the game. Yesterday Chhetri had released the video to the Indian fans requesting them to come and support in the stadium. The video had gone viral, the Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli, other cricketing personalities like Suresh Raina, Harsha Bhogle and also La Liga official account have supported the Chhetri’s wish. For tomorrow’s match, more than half of the stadium will be filled. Along with the ‘Blue Pilgrims’ many of the European football fanclubs are ready to cheer India in the stadium and also IPL side Mumbai Indians fans’ club have also promised that they will be going to the game.

Chhetri hat-trick

Now coming back to the game, the defence of the ‘Blue Tigers’ was strong in the last match against Taiwan and they have to continue it. The Kenyan players were dribbling the ball with quick solo runs in the match against the Kiwis and Jhingan and Anas have to be careful with Ochieng specifically. Thapa had a good game against Taiwan and it will be better if he is given the whole 90 minutes. Along with him Udanta was also good. Jeje and Chhetri is the best partnership that India can have upfront and Constantine will continue with that against the African side.

Kenya :

Not only Kenya but all the three visiting nations have not sent most of their main players but anyway in this tournament Kenya will pose strong challenge compared to the other ltwo visiting countries. When you see the goals scored by Miheso and Ocheing in the game with New Zealand, they were scored by the loose ball which arrived due to the defensive mistake by the All Whites. The challenging thing for the Indian players would be to resist and contain Kenyan midfield’s passing the ball with accuracy and speed. Ocheing has scored the 1st goal in his career, he will put all of his effort in the front line of Kenya. The defence was also good in the last game, after the 2nd half the defenders had kept the opponent wingers under their control. So Sebastian Migne’s men will not let the hosts have an easy game.

Head to Head:

This is going to be the first ever international meeting between the two sides.

Author’s Take :

Tomorrow is going to be Indian captain’s 100th game and now itself half of the stadium has been booked by the fans after his speech had gained the support from various sports men and it had reverberated the importance of football to the Indians. Strategically it would be a contest between the physicality and pace of the Kenyans with the skill of the Indians. The match is expected to be an evenly contested one, although the home crowd and home conditions will surely work in favour of Chhetri & Co.
