The women’s Asia Cup T20 which is taking place in Kuala Lumpur has seen the women in blue emerge out as chart toppers after yesterday.
On the inaugural match they went face to face with the Malaysian woman. Our woman knocked down the opponent in just 27 runs after setting a monstrous total of 168 for the loss of 3 wickets thanks to Mithali, for outstanding Noor kof 97 which consisted of 13 boundaries and one over boundary.
No doubt she was the player of the match but the bowlers did a magnificent job too. They decimated the entire team within 14 overs whilst considering only 27 runs.
If there would have been a “bowler of the match” award I think Pooja Vastrakar and Poonam Yadav would have been the number 1 contenders. Pooja bowled for 3 overs whilst conceding just 6 runs and picking up 3 wickets where as the latter bowled 2 overs and picked two wickets conceding no run.
This victory gave the women’s just the exact confidence boost they needed before heading out to their next match where they delivered again.
India next faced the Thailand women and won it too. The player of the match was the captain Harmanpreet Kaur as she delivered and outstanding all rounding performance. She picked up important wickets and at the same time do not conceed a lot.
The Thai women performed much more than their expectations and they might have got the chance to win only if they would have managed to pull out some extra wickets. Despite all this team India is now leading the points table with two consecutive wins and a whopping run rate of 5.2.
India next take on the Bangladeshi women’s with the captain strong assurance over victory. The women in blue are looking fabulous with the ball as well as the bat, given that, they keep on performing, the women’s could very well be heading back home with the Asia Cup.
