The 2017-18 ISL Champions are in the mood of strengthening it’s goalkeeping department as the team had signed two shot stoppers, Sanjiban Ghosh from Jamshedpur FC and Nikhil Bernard from Gokulam Kerala FC.
After a successful campaign last season where they went onto lift the ISL trophy by the dint of teamgame, the Marina Macchans had renewed the contracts of Renato Augusto, Mailson Alves and Gregory Nelson. Along with them 13 of the domestic players had been retained including Jeje, Germanpreet, Thapa and Ganesh. The Chennaiyin management is now concentrating on it’s signing ahead of the 2019 AFC Cup.
Not only the renewal of those players, CFC had also signed Srinivasan Pandiyan from Chennai City FC and Tondonba from NEROCA. Meanwhile the club have bade farewell to seven of it’s players including notable players like Dhanachandra Singh, Bikramjit Singh and Jude Nworuh. Dhanachandra was with the team for the last 3 seasons, his knee injury kept him as a substitute for the last 1 and a half a year.
Let us see the new signings of Chennaiyin :
● Sanjiban Ghosh :
The Bengalee shot-stopper has spent his youth career in Southern Samity, and later in 2012-13, he was signed by I-League side Mumbai FC. Ahead of the 4th season of ISL, he was signed by new franchise Jamshedpur FC and had trained alongside India’s experienced shot custodian Subrata Paul. Ghosh’s best performance was against Minerva Punjab in the Super Cup Quarterfinals, where the match went to penalty shoot out and Ghosh’s heroics made the team to qualify for the Semi finals and brought him under spotlight. Sanjib an Ghosh has signed a two year contract with the ISL champions and will prove to be a good addition for the side.
