Denmark would be making their fifth appearance in the FIFA World Cup at Russia. The tragedy of Hamlet, Vikings and Lego’s all originated from this country. Home to only 5.7 million, Denmark is considered the happiest country. Denmark would be lead by Tottenham’s workaholic Christian Eriksen who will pull all the strings from the middle of the park. This team is not a one-man team as they have got players like Simon Kjaer who is an excellent defender, Andreas Christensen who is coming off a good season at Chelsea. They are a good team, not the contenders for the World Cup but they can get through the group stages.
● Squad Analysis :
○ Goalkeeping :
The Danes have got the likes of Leicester’s keeper Kasper Schmeichel in front of goal who made his name during the Premier League winning season in the year 2016. Denmark’s first-choice goalkeeper, Schmeichel is a brilliant shot-stopper, he spreads himself just like his father used to, he is also a good organiser of the defence in front of him. Jonas Lossl and Frederik Ronow are some notable additions to this department.
Defensively Demark would be considered as a very physical and disciplined side. The Danish defence consists of Simon Kjaer, Andreas Christensen, Henrik Dalsgaard and Jens Stryger. Simon Kjaer centre-back who plays for Sevilla has improved his performances for his national side and his accurate long-range passing has been used as a tactic to find forwards from deep. Andreas Christensen, on the other hand, has had a fairly good season replacing the seasoned campaigner David Luiz.
○ Midfield :
The Danish midfield would be occupied by the likes of Thomas Delaney, Christian Eriksen and William Kvist. Christian Eriksen will be the hub in front of a strong midfield Thomas Delaney and William Kvist roaming away from the hole regularly. Erisken who has scored 11 goals in the UEFA qualifiers is a joint third highest goalscorer, is the heart of this midfield and he often delivers on big occasions. The Tottenham star player is in his prime for making a name for himself in the FIFA World Cup 2018, his hat trick and made way for Denmark to qualify for this tournament and is the player to watch out for.
○ Forward :
Upfront Denmark has the presence of Pione Sisto, Nicolai Jorgensen and Yussuf Poulsen. Åge Hareide has decided a play big strong Leipzig player Yussuf Poulsen on the right-hand side and Nicolai Jorgensen the first choice striker. Yussuf Poulsen will push alongside the big striker with Celta Vigo winger Sisto tucks in from left side along Eriksen.

● Coach’s Quote :
“It’s not quite true that Denmark is over-dependent on Eriksen,” the Norwegian coach told AFP. “We have a team that works for him but he also works for us. It’s not a one-man show.”
“That is the best combination. Christian is a part of the team but he is also a star, a fantastic football player,” said Hareide before a training session in sunny Anapa near the Black Sea coast.
“He can observe space quicker than anybody else, that is his key value for the team“, Hareide added.
● Writers Take :
Denmark are an interesting team, they have got a lot of tall strong players in this team, who can dominate the game physically then you have got Christian Eriksen who is a genuinely world-class player that elevates them in terms of technical quality, they can otherwise be direct and one-note but having a player like that allows you to play in a different way and he is having an absolutely fabulous season so obviously a lot on him to take this team into the knockout stages.
