Already having 0-1 down in the test series Sri Lanka faces another huge blow. Their most experienced player Angelo Mathews and seamer Lahiru Gamage both returning to their home Sri Lanka before the start of second test match.
Mathhews made a request to Sri Lanka Cricket to return home due to personal reasons while Lahiru Gamage had fractured his finger while batting in the first test match. Mathhews scored 11 and 31 in the first test match while Gamage went wicketless in both innings.
Dasun Shanaka and Danushka Gunathilaka are announced as replacement and they are expected to reach West Indies late Wednesday night. But both players would not be considered for selection for second test starting on Thursday, June 14.
Sri Lanka, though, have Dhananjaya de Silva and Mahela Udawatta in their squad to play in place of Mathews in St Lucia while one of Kasun Rajitha and Asitha Fernando can fill in the spot vacated by Gamage.
