The first of many obstacles has been successfully overcome by team India as they defeat Ireland in the second T20 to bag the series. Both these matches should stand up as a warm up for team India. India played with their regular team on the first match whilst picking up the newly named members for the second match. The men in blue looked very eager to hammer the bowlers as it was clear from the very first match when Dhawan and Rohit slammed the Irish bowlers, that continued to KL Rahul and Raina on the second match. Kohli’s performance with the bat wasn’t pleasing. He got wrecked at a duck on the first match and managed to bag in 9 runs before losing his wicket in the second match. His injury recently which forced him out of the county might be the reason for his recent out of form performance. The former captain was a bit rusty too, with the bat, but when it came to stumping’s, the havoc machine was as swift as he has been always.
There has been lots of moments in the second match against Ireland, let’s sort it out down here as we bring you with the talking points of the India v Ireland 2nd T20.
1. The Young Indian Hands :
After watching the game it was evident that KL Rahul is in the form of his life. At the IPL his batting struck out the millions watching and again at the Ireland tour, he kept of impressing. I believe his game will go more high, he’ll surely reach new levels of accomplishment. His runs came at a very fast pace as most of his runs came from boundaries. Not only Rahul but claps for Raina also. Whilst Rahul was busy hammering the Irish swingers, Raina was holding the play as well hitting when required, a pure sensible innings.
2. The “Shining Spinning”:
“Oh my God!”, were the only words to come out. Kuldeep Yadav is the young “Chinaman” who is just laying down the batsmen with his impressive bowling skills. Not only this match, he won it big time in the previous encounter as well. His bowling has been taking down quite a big players, it must have been really tough for the Irish men to face him. Talking about spin, Chahal must me mentioned as well. He bagged in the Player of the match award with his brilliant spell, which consisted of 3 wickets and a minimal 21 runs. The pace was good too, as Umesh gave the early boost, wrecking the top ordered Irish men with his fierce balls.
3. The Nidahas Trophy MVP was missing :
The man who stole everyone’s heart at the Nidahas Trophy with his amazing performance with the bat in two overs, didn’t get to show off here. Yes, Dinesh Karthik the man who lead the KKR squad this year and the man who infamously stole Bangladeshi’s moment after his terrific batting didn’t get any chance here. After quite a long time Karthik had the opportunity to play in the India A team and first made his appearance at the test against Afganisthan where he got run out in not so good runs. In this series, he wasn’t in the Playing XI in the first match but came in the second replacing Dhoni. Everyone might have been excited to see what this man is capable of after his impressive IPL journey with the KKR but, Alas! The Irishmen couldn’t grab a few more down.
4. The Expensive Hardik Pandya Show :
When it comes to ruthless aggression and intimate passion for the team, Hardik definitely gets a spot for that. Remember the Champions Trophy Finals of 2016 against Pakistan where the entire team failed but this man gathered it all and blasted with what he had left for his team but couldn’t stay in much longer. This passion was evident in this match. Pandya crushed the Irish bowlers in the last moments with 4 sixes and a four , as he scored 32 runs in just 9 balls with a S/R of almost 356. The man didn’t fail our expectations with the bat too as he managed to bag in a wicket whilst conceding just 10 runs in his two overs. As the game progresses, this man keeps on improving his game for his team.
5. The Village Tragedy!
Ireland were given a total of 214 to chase but they fell short. They fell really short as the team fell crashing in just 70 runs, thanks to the Spinning Wizards, Kuldeep and Chahal. The team got massacred in a brutal way. Ireland joins the list of lowest all out totals v India and surprisingly takes the first place. This score has also been one of Ireland’s lowest totals. A big win for India, in fact the biggest. From the first ball to the end, Ireland were clearly not in the game. Sad truth, Ireland is falling more short, and is hardly in the face of improvement.
