ATK the Kolkata based ISL franchise once again proved themselves long runners in the ‘Maidan’ of Kolkata and Indian football as they inaugurated their new football academy at Barasat in association with Aditya School of Sports.

The Sanjeev Goenka headed franchise formerly started their academy by leasing the Bidhan Nagar Sports Complex and had their players residing at Newtown. But this time they had brought all this under one roof as the new academy provides a full fledged Football Ground with a seating capacity of, practice ground, well furnished dressing rooms, highly equipped gymnasium, hostels, canteen, experienced experts and also bears. The officials on behalf of ATK assured us that the young bunch of boys scouted through more than 25 grassroots programme, all through the West Bengal will start as residential players of the academy. They will continue their education in the school of the Aditya Group and will receive football training under the supervision of Sanjoy Sen (Head of Youth Development, ATK).

This academy provides a nice ambience and atmosphere which I think is ideal for any children on their course of development”, said Sen. Initially 58, U-13 and U-15 players scouted through 6 months of Grassroot programme will reside in the academy who will be joined by 12 more players of the previous U13 batch. The U 18 team will also join the academy later this year. Both the ATK and the Aditya Group are highlighting the idea of education along with football which none had given shape in Bengal before. So it’s another proud achievement for ATK as they turn fore runners and they assure to continue more development in the grass root in the coming years. Standing at a time when the gaints of Kolkata football are facing and suffering continuous obstacle and hurdles to cope up with the go ATK is really doing a great job holding a good pace of development.
