unnamed - Chelsea Edge Past A Tough Gunners' Challenge : 5 Talking Points Of The London Derby

A scintillating match at the Stamford Bridge came to an end with Chelsea bagging the three points. Chelsea always looked to be the better side in the game leaving aside the late 20 minutes of the first half and start of the second half. That was the time when Arsenal were at top from and should have captilised on the chances they got. With Aubameyang missing two chances which were dropped at his feet 7 yards away from goal, one of the chances was shot by him over the bar and the other was side footed wide by him outside. Mkhitaryan missed one golden opportunity although he scored to capitalise on his mistake but it wasn’t enough to put them across the line.

We have compiled some major aspects from the game which shaped the course of the match :

1) Christensen Should Be Started Ahead of David Luiz :

David Luiz had an awful game. He never really could track the runs of the center forward. He left his man unmarked a number of times. The Brazillian also almost let Aubameyang get himself a goal had he not put it over the bar. If Sarri has envisioned himself as the first choice centre-back for the season, then he probably needs to give it a rethink.

2) Arsenal Defence Still Has Issues :

Although Arsenal spent a lot on defence this summer. Their defence is still not completely sorted out. Sokratis hasn’t been good at all for them. Wasn’t that good against City too and wasn’t good in this match either. Bellerin had a decent game. He did put in couple of crosses which should have been converted and also was decent defensively. The same goes to Monreal. He was good offensively and decent defensively. Mustafi shouldn’t have let Morata score that goal and should have done much better with his tackle and physicality.

3) Kante on his new role :

‌The Frenchmen after doing extremely well at the world Cup as a defensive midfielder as he did do for Leicester City and Chelsea past two seasons. After sarri has been brought into Chelsea it’s been different for the midfielder. With Chelsea making the signing of Jorginho who made most number of passes in the top 5 leagues. Kante has been given a new role . Sarri doesn’t want to change his style from the style where Allan Jorginho were the midfield partners. Where Allan played as the holding midfielder similar to kante where he wins the ball back and helps the full backs. He also snuffs out counter attack. Sarri believes kante can be played in a more attacking role as he believed kante does completes a lot of dribbles and creates a lot of chances. He is confident he can do well in the new role. He never fails us to impress us as he did do well in his new role against arsenal. Looking forward to see him do well in his new role too.

4) Iwobi Had A Good Game :

Iwobi starting ahead of Ramsey was a shock to many but he managed to put in a good show. Worked hard to win the ball back when he lost. He tried to make things happen for Arsenal when they were 2-0 down. He got himself a goal which was totally deserved. He definitely had a good game. Sadly his goal wasn’t enough for Arsenal to even bag a point. Hope to see them do better in the coming weeks.

5) Guendouzi To Keep His Place In The Starting XI :

The 19 year old kid never fails to impress us it looks like, he was an absolute class once again. Everything he did came off well. His work rate was phenomenal. He defended and passed the ball around extremely well. He was the best player on the pitch for Arsenal. Looking forward to see more of him in the coming weeks.
