After 3 and a half years of wait, Juventus and Parma locked horns in a competitive game in Serie A and it was the Italian Champions who edged past Parma. Mandzukic netted the early goal before the two-minute mark, it was a mistake from Lacoponi that led to the goal. Ivory Coast man Gervinho who was left unmarked equalised for Parma and the World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi scored the winner after a beautiful one-two by Mandzukic and Sandro. Let’s have a look at some significant points of this match.
● Dybala’s And Costa’s Absence Felt By Juventus :
Juventus started the match with a 4-3-3 formation. Szczesny at the between the sticks, Sandro, Bonucci, Chiellini and Cuadrado at the back. The midfield catered Pjanic, Khedira and Matuidi and upfront it was Ronaldo on the left, Bernadeshi on the right and Mandzukic in the centre. There were plenty of question marks on Allegri with big names like Dybala and Costa missing from starting eleven and their absence was clearly visible. Juventus lacked the creativity and when the duo came on Juventus started to play convincing football.
● Cristiano’s Drought Continues :
Cristiano Ronaldo was left waiting for his first Juventus goal after drawing another blank. It was a frustrating night for Ronaldo as Parma was clever enough to cut off the supply lines. Parma prevented him getting in any of his long ranged shots. Although Ronaldo had a really good game but it looks like there is something missing in his game.
● Parma Lacks Cohesion :
With six new signings done by Parma in this transfer window, Parma needs more time to get these players together on the same page. Gervinho was the main man for Parma last night but after his substitution, it looked Parma lost the plot and it wasn’t the same team that equalized in the beginning of the game.
● Bonucci’s Juve Struggle Continues :
After his comeback to the Turin, Leonardo Bonucci hasn’t been the same man that left the club. Last night in the game against Parma it was his mistake that cost Juventus the goal. This wasn’t the only time where his error cost Juve the goal in the game against Chievo, it was his error by which the opposition was able to take the lead. With the likes of Benatia and Rugani on the bench if Bonnuci keeps on making errors like these then his name in the starting eleven would definitely be in danger.
● Another Unconvincing Win For Juventus :
Juventus managed to get over the line against Parma but it was yet another win that didn’t really look convincing. It wasn’t more of a controlled win where Juve dominated the opposing it was more of a random win with a scrappy goal. Although it was three points in the bag for Juventus it was the attacking football that the football world used to see from Juventus which was missing from Juventus.
