○ Venue: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
○ Time: 07:30 PM

Team Details :

○ Chennaiyin FC :

The Marina Machans’ small mistakes had caused them a loss of three points, still the gaffer looks positive as they started the last season with a loss as well but clinched the title eventually. Even in the post match press conference he expressed that the team was blessed with the last season’s key players and he was satisfied with the team’s last match performance. Gregory was sure that his boys will clinch 3 points in tomorrow’s match. The gaffer John Gregory is a man of words because in believing 36 year old Calderon who had witnessed more successful tackles against BFC he showed that performance will matter and not the age. As a team, CFC was good and also Gregory could sharpen them to overcome the mistakes committed in the last game.

FC Goa :

The team which is always well known for it’s aggressive performance is FC Goa. It has taken them less than six minutes to level the game against NorthEastUnited FC. Lobera’s boys were always giving their 100%. In the last game, the gaffer had given chance to their younger goalie and he was brilliant but anyway he was the reason for the draw in the match. The Spanish attacker Coro will be the biggest headache to Chennaiyin as he could convert all those chances into a goal. FC Goa will deliver attacking football as Chennaiyin had broken their tournament final’s dream last season.

Manager’s Quote :

○ Chennaiyin FC :

John Gregory stated that,“We don’t get a choice. We play whoever we come up against. Bengaluru and FC Goa were two of the best teams last season. They were good teams and I enjoyed watching them last season. They play good football in a very enjoyable style. They are two teams I expect to be involved in the play-offs.”

So, it is a tough start. When you look at ATK with the amount of money they have spent, they started with two defeats. Goa vs NorthEast was a really enjoyable football match and Coro started off well this season. We just need to get on with it. I’m hoping we get three points tomorrow.”

FC Goa :
Lobera expressed his views on match against Chennaiyin as, “The squad is fit and good. I am confident about my team. Last season we won here (3-2) and we hope we can repeat that result.”

On his team’s style of play, the Spanish coach opined, “I think our style of football makes us strong. We have built the squad based on this style. We are made to play an attacking style of football. As a coach, there are some aspects we have to work on, defence wise. But we play attacking football and we look forward to playing that.” “I think if we look at the first XI they played in the first game, they still have three foreigners at the back which is similar to last season. The names might have changed but, I think, Chennai have a strong squad and defensively they will be very strong.”

Author’s Take :

Tomorrow a real clash awaits for the football fans, a defensively stronger team is going to play against an attacking outfit. Small mistakes can turn the match towards opponent’s favour. It is the match for both the teams to set their place in the top of the table. In my opinion either this match would end in a draw or else the away side would win by a small margin.
