“We Have A Goal To Achieve In This Season”: Churchill Brothers Coach Petre Gigiu 0

Churchill Brothers Coach Petre Gigiu

Ahead of their second match in the I-League, Churchill Brothers Head Coach Petre Gigiu seemed confident. In the pre-match press conference at Coimbatore started his proceedings by saying, “We need some time to improve and build a good relation between the foreign and Indian players”.

The Romanian stated that it was good to share points with the defending champions at Punjab (Minerva) and now his team is ready to take the Coimbatore based club. “We will develop ourselves step by step, so we need good results both away and in the home” he said.

“This is a very interesting challenge to take on this team (Chennai City) in this ground; we have a well-balanced side from defence to attack”. He insisted that his “team will be experienced after 3-4 games, after that we will give tough task for opposition team we face”

According to Gigiu the players and coaches are doing well and there is good relationship between the players which will give good strength to the club. The Indian players in the squad are good having skills equal to the foreigners feels the Churchill Coach.

While asked about their tomorrow’s oppositions Chennai City FC, he said, “I saw the team played in previous having good players in all positions they are balanced and it will be a tough nut to crack for us”

He feels that retaining a lot of names from the previous season will help him build a strong nucleus of the side, “About one-third number of players are retained from previous season which will give more experience about this league, between players they have good understanding are supremely fit and we have a goal in this season but we need some time to improve”.

Previously he managed a club in Algeria, “I was in Algeria I don’t know about this league a lot, now I am here to experience in India”
Having not won any of the fixture against Chennai City in the past I-League, it might well be a disadvantage before heading onto the pitch. Especially after an inspiring performance against the Arrows with a seemingly good foreigners brigade, Chennai City will leave no stones unturned to get full points and for Gigiu & Co. it will tough to salvage something out of it.
