Chennai City FC are currently enjoying the status of table toppers in I-League with 13 points from 5 matches. The team coached by Akbar Nawas is acting like a well-oiled machine which has beaten the likes of East Bengal and Gokulam Kerala in their den.
One prominent reason behind this success of the Coimbatore based club is the performance of their Spanish Brigade. The trio of Pedro Manzi, Sandro Rodriguez and Nestor Gordilo have built a prominent nucleus for the side alongside contributions from other local players. But the position which could haunt the side in long run is the Goalkeeping slot where they don’t have any convincing names. The Chennai management has seemingly found the solution to it as they have signed their new foreign goalie and this time again from Spain. Nauzet Garcia Santana is going to be the new foreigner in their squad and in all probability will be seen beneath the bars for Chennai soon.
The 24-Year old shot-stopper from Spain who hails from Tenerife has played for Granada CF B, Tenerife B sides and has already joined the team in Coimbatore.
Previously Chennai announced the signing of Australian goalkeeper Jerrard Tyson but the move did not materialise finally. Now it remains to be seen whether the addition of the new Spanish custodian solidifies the game of the I-League toppers from the back.
