The only I-League team from Goa this season, Churchill Brothers are in talks with the 34 year-old warhorse, a winner of many battles- Anthony Wolfe. Representing Trinidad and Tobago in 2006 FIFA World Cup, Wolfe has 206 club goals to his name.
Churchill is now 5th in the league table, with 6 points from 4 games, 7 points behind the toppers Chennai City FC who played a game more. Churchill scored six times in two games and did not score in the other two, which means they have scored in only 50% of their games. They want to bring in Wolfe to get over their non-goals scoring times.
The Goan club already has five foreigners- defender Hussein Eldor (Lebanon), midfielders Dawda Ceesay (Gambia) and Khalid Aucho (Uganda), strikers Nenad Novakovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Willis Deon Plaza (Trinidad and Tobago).
They might fulfil the one spot left for signing a foreigner by bringing in their forward last season- Wolfe. He netted 15 times last season from 17 games for the Red Machines. Head coach from Romania Petre Gigiu would be happy with the World Cupper’s addition in his squad.
