Quess East Bengal FC have finalised 23 years old Spanish winger Jamie Santos Colado as their new foreign player for the I-League. There were a lot of speculations regarding who the new foreigners of the Red and Golds would be and many big names were linked but the official announcement came on Friday of them striking a deal with the Spaniard. Since the announcement there have been unending debate among the East Bengal faithful regarding whether he is a good enough player or not. We decided to have look into his career and churn out some interesting things for you.

1. Sporting Gijon Connection :

Jamie Colado started his youth career in Sporting Gijon. He played for the Sporting Gijon U-19 & Sporting Gijon B team before moving to CD Mirandes. Alejandro Menendez too had worked with the Sporting Gijon Youth team. So it is believed that he is well aware of his capabilites for a very long time. That’s why he has chosen him.

2. Journey at Mirandes :

He played for CD Mirandes in 2017-18 season. He didn’t got too much opportunities to prove though of CD Mirandes’s astonishing performance. He has played 18 games for the team.

3. Playing Style :

Colado is young but he has shown prowess in Sporting Gijon’s color. He is mainly a right winger but often moves to left & operates the game. The Indians will be familiar with the name of Sameehg Doutie. Colado resembles that style. He often operates with the wing & cuts inside & finds himself in a goalscoring positions. He has scored 18 goals & provided 20 assists for Gijon but failed to impress for Mirandes. Colado will be looking to get his Gijon’s form back in East Bengal colour.

4. Life in Sporting Gijon Senior Team :

Many people won’t know about this but he was promoted in Sporting Gijon senior team in 2016-17. Infact Gijon was in La Liga that season. He didn’t get chances & failed to impress the senior team manager Rubi. Gijon finished 18th & got relegated to Segunda divison.

In his Gijon years, he has played and shared the dressing room with various quality players. Some of them are Venezuelan international & ex Athletic Bilbao player Fernando Amorebieta, Ivan Cuellar, former Atletico Madrid player Mikel Vesega, another  ex Athletic Bilbao player who is currently playing in Leganes, Xavier Torres, ex Barcelona player & the list goes on.
