Christmas Day marks almost one year to the day that Liverpool announced they had signed Virgil van Dijk.
It is no secret Virgil van Dijk faced a big task to take the Reds from a team that were leaking goals but scoring freely into the outfit they are today which could challenge any side in the world.
That side, of which the imperious Dutchman has had a massive impact on, sit unbeaten at the top of the Premier League clear of their nearest rivals Manchester City by four points. A Merry Christmas indeed.
Van Dijk arrived at Anfield on January 1, 2018, after the news broke the week before that he’d be joining up with Jurgen Klopp and since then has conceded just 17 goals during his time for the club.
His debut against Everton on January 5 was marked with an emphatic goal and what followed was his calmness that spread throughout the backline and his ability to defend and lead quickly shone as the Reds went on a sensational run to the Champions League final.
During this Premier League season the ever-present Van Dijk has helped Liverpool to keep 11 clean sheets in their first 18 games to add another string to the team’s impressive unbeaten bow.
The centre-back has truly been nothing short of world-class since he arrived and just about everyone has lauded him with the highest of praise.
