Quess East Bengal FC shared a spoiler with physically superior side Real Kashmir FC with 1-1 on board. This stalemate pulled the dark horse of the league to the race of the table toppers along with Neroca FC and Chennai City FC sharing equal points (18). It was home side who retained most positions but failed to take home full points from the debutant, strong and defensive visitors. It turned to be a sweet meal for the Snow leopards at the eastern part of the country at the onset of New Year. Here are the talking points from the match.

Loveday the wall with impactful defence- Real Kashmir FC has got a real strong defence with Loveday as their central back. This man turned to be the most impactful one at the defence for the Kashmiri side with terrific headed clearances all through the match. He turned to be a wall tough to overcome for the home side along with Ketebe and Dharmaraj on his sides. Though in the last quarter they made some mistakes but overall the away side defended good enough keeping East Bengal struggling to find their goal.

Both the goals scored by East Bengal- The first on their own net and the other on the oppositions net. Real Kashmir FC got the lead at the 46th minute when Surchandra putted the ball into the box and Chulova netted an own goal. The Kashmiri defenders were continuously pressing the home side with the ball that Chullova with nothing but to take chance to clear the ball, but it turned curse cause the ball went into the net leaving any chance for Dagar to save it out. The equalizer came ten minutes after from none other than Jobby Justin. Didika took the corner and send the ball perfectly into the box but at first it got declined by the Kashmiri keeper leaving another chance for Jobby, that the Keralian didn’t mistake to turn into a goal.

Real Kashmir came up with trio of aerial threats- Krizo- Bazie- Surchandra this trio caused a lot of aerial threats all through the match that kept the Red and Gold defence always on toes. Krizo and Abhash Thapa made some brilliant individual runs along with their comendable footwork that became a cause of concern for the world cupper Acosta and Spaniard Borja for a quite few times as the forwards went passed them in style. Bazie also took a good cross at the 39’ min though it didn’t give them any result. A bit of confidence that lacked in the offensive part of the visiting side could have won the game for them.

Red and Gold missed a lot of golden opportunities- East Bengal on the other hand played a lot of square passes as they kept most of the possession and created. This lead to some golden opportunities for the Red and Gold with Chulova creating a lot of chances along with Danmoiya through both the flanks. But they failed to turn them into goal as players like Kasim Aidara miss passed the ball a lot of times leaving Jobby Justin unable to get the ball to set it in to a shot. Brendon and Lalrindika Ralte alsocouldn’t came up today with the game that they are known of. This probably turned to the major cause for Alexandro’s boys to suffer a spoiler at home turf as Brendon turned his team a bit upset about his wrong game with the ball. Whereas Didika came up with some good set pieces as one of his corner gave Jobby Justin the chance to score his 6th goal for East Bengal.

Jobby Justin in an unfamiliar position- Jobby Justin started the game playing a bit lower down the box at a position where he is not frequently found to play in. This gained him with no ball to shot directly to the net that he is best known of. As a result a lot of balls were created in the attacking third of East Bengal but it lacked player like Jobby to set it into the net. Allesandro definitely came out with a different plan on Jobby at the first half which surely didn’t turn fruitful as he returned Jobby to his normal position. Thus he earned the equalizer for his team with 6 goals on his name in this I-league.
