Yesterday we broke the news that Gift Raikhan is all set to get attached to the Gokulam Kerala setup. Hours after the report, Gokulam Kerala FC issued a Press-release confirming the appointment of the former Aizawl and NEROCA FC Head Coach. Although the statement said he has been appointed as the Technical Director but while we contacted Raikhan he said he will be both TD and the Head Coach of the side.

In the meantime Gokulam Kerala has lost an experienced Malayali Coach from their set-up in the form of Satheevan Balan. Balan came into headlines of sports pages of national media after leading Kerala to the Santosh Trophy triumph last year where they beat Bengal in the final.

Balan was appointed the Assistant Coach of Gokulam Kerala in October last year before the start of the new I-League campaign as a deputy to Bino George. Balan is an AFC A-License holder and previously worked as National team scout where he worked with Stephen Constantine. The duo of Satheevan Balan and Bino George was installed with the aim of building a team enriched with a strong group of Keralite players.

But as it seems, the Santosh Trophy winning coach will have to leave the side in the mid-season as sources say that Kerala Sports Council has rejected his request to extend his leave beyond 6 months. He joined Gokulam Kerala taking a six month leave from his employers but now KSC is reluctant to extend the leave which has forced Balan to part ways with the club.
