After the emphatic win over Gokulam Kerala, Chennai City are clear favourites for the I-League trophy and slowly marching towards the ‘Holy Grail’. Up next there comes a hurdle in their way facing pre-season title favourites East Bengal in their home. “Everyone calling it title deciding game, but it is clearly not. We accept the challenge and ready to compete in tomorrow’s game”, said Chennai City FC gaffer Akbar Nawas.
Since East Bengal arestill in the title race in 6th place with only 5 point deficit from leaders Chennai City playing a game less than the tomorrow’s host, it clearly shows the league heads into competitive stage where every game is must win game for all the title contenders. The head coach added that “My players are very humble on and off the pitch they listen to me even I scold them, they listen that’s what important in modern football and move on. That is why we have good communication between coaching staffs and the players and we are on the top due to these reasons that takes place in the training grounds.”
East Bengal has good record over the Coimbatore based side in the previous season by picking 2 wins both away and home respectively. Answering to the odds, he said, “Past season is over especially in India there is no lucky ground for any team, even high flying teams can nod that depends upon their performance on the field. We accept the challenge and ready to compete for the valuable 3 points.” “We are just Chennai City, we are not like East Bengal and Mohun bagan having much history and want to win every game and try to repeat the same in every season to win the I-League. We don’t have those pressure, here we are free, no pressure and thrust on us, that’s why we are performing well than them just enjoy our game”, the Singaporean added.
Along with the gaffer, goal keeper Dinesh attended the press conference hailing the Spanish players by saying, “They are the ones who taught us which is right and wrong what should be done on the field and they are behaving like our friends which make us to perform in good manner in matches”
Tomorrow’s game is the battle of midfield for both set of players. Chennai City FC having good backups in the defensive midfield position and East Bengal are always compact in the midfield region which is going to be observable from the stands. The head coach answers to his team’s critics by saying “Whether we defend from back or defend form the front it depends upon the play of East Bengal, tomorrow game clearly depends on the midfield and defensive positions for both teams”.
Hence it is going to be a highly intense game for both teams as both are clearly going for the all 3 points.
