Kerala based outfit Gokulam Kerala FC’s midfielder Arjun Jayaraj has been suspended by AIFF DIsciplinary Committee due to his elbowing of Chennai City FC midfielder Shrinivas Pandiyan in the 48th Minute of the match between the two sides.
GKFC played it’s 2nd leg against CCFC in Coimbatore which was the 53rd league game of I-League 2018-19. In the First half’s Extra Minute(45+3), Jayaraj elbowed Pandiyan crucially which led to unrest in the field and suddenly the referee sent off both the players showing red card to each. Both the teams continued with ten players on each side where the Southners clinched a 3-2 victory over Malabarians.
Pandiyan had been suspended for 1 match, he did not play against East Bengal. Now the disciplinary committee had suspended Jayaraj for 2 games and also has been fined a sum of 2 Lakhs. Jayaraj did not feature in the two fixtures of Gokulam after the Chennai clash which were against Churchill Brothers and Minerva Punjab, so he is subjected to pay his fine amount only.
The Malappuram born Midfielder was a part of GKFC from 2017 i.e from the debut of the club in I-League. He scored a crucial goal in the Final of Kerala Premier League. He has netted 2 goals out of his 20 appearances for Gokulam Kerala FC.
