Defending I-League champions Minerva Punjab are currently going through a lean patch in this edition of I-League. Lack of finishing infront of opponent goal-mouth is one of the major reasons behind them lying at the bottom half of the table and fighting for avoiding relegation.
In the meantime the Punjab based club would start their journey in the continental competitions in AFC Champions League Qualifiers and the eyes of the Minerva officials are currently set on that which has been evident with the recent couple of foreign acquisitions by them in the form of Al-Amna and Juan Barraso. Although they struck a deal with Vincentinian international Cornelius Stewart but the attacker in all probability is not joining Minerva Punjab as he has suffered an injury according to him.
The Minerva Punjab officials have not sit idle and have started talking with some other attacking options to fill the foreign quota. If our sources are to be believed, then the club is currently in talks with Ukrainian striker Roland Rassel Bilala.
The Congolese origin Ukrainian player has been in prolific form in the top division league of Maldives where he has scored tons of goals for his club Green Streets. The player who holds dual nationality of Ukraine and Congo has terrorised the defences of the Dhivehi Premier League in the past season.
Roland has come up from the youth system of Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv and has also played for their reserves side. He was registered as a squad member of the first squad of Dynamo Kyiv but did not appear in any match for the club. Besides Dynamo, the six feet tall striker has played for FC Tiraspol, FC Skala Stryi, FC Ternopil etc. Before joining Green Streets the striker played for FK Panévezys. Roland Rassel Bilala had represented Ukraine U17 side six times.
Minerva Punjab are looking to secure the services of the striker as soon as possible as they will soon start their continental campaign and they seriously need a prominent striking option upfront to put them atleast in a challenging position.
