Mohun Bagan has applied to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in order to know the future of Indian Football.
On Wednesday Debashis Dutta, rhe Club Director of Mohun Bagan has written to Dato’ Windsor John, the General Secretary of the AFC reminding him of the minutes of their last meet on 2017 once with all the stakeholders of Indian Football at Kualampur and another with the delegates of FIFA and AFC at the Mohun Bagan club tent regarding the next route map of Indian Football that is still not clear.
Presently Bagan is at the middle of the league table and are in a turmoil to bring in investors for their upcoming season. Sources confirmed to Talk Sports 24×7 that Mohun Bagan had a number of meetings with Sanjeev Goenka owned ISL franchise ATK for a merger of mutual benefits as fabricated by FSDL. But it seemed to have not turned into fruit as Bagan have turned their boat to another direction.
Dutta also added that they have requested AIFF quite a number of times to share the development and status of the proposed route map of Indian Football with them but have not yet received any apt reply from the national football body. This may be the reason that has lead the Bagan officials to opt for AFC to intervene the matter in order to put some light and make a clear statement regarding the proposed plan so that the club can fix it’s own agenda for the coming season.
On the other hand ISL is going to be the National top division league on the upcoming footballing season making a chance of demotion for the current I-League clubs and creating a point for the Kolkata giants to join ISL.
