Jamshedpur FC have already started preparing for the 2019-’20 ISL season by signing left-back Keegan Pereira from NorthEast United FC as we reported few days ago. Now they have strengthened their defence by roping in Joyner Lourenco from Mumbai City FC.
The Indian Super League (ISL) side Jamshedpur FC have finalised deal to sign the 27-year old defender as we have been told by our sources.
The 27-year old Lourenco who played for Mumbai city FC this season, flourished as left-back in a back four system under Jorge Costa. He played along with the likes of Lucian Goian, Anwar Ali and Souvik Chakrabarti in a back-four system.
Lourenco who made his professional debut back in 2011 for Sporting Clube de Goa in a League match against Pune FC has spent most of his career in Sporting Goa outfit before moving onto Bengaluru FC in 2017. He didn’t have a great time there and Bengaluru FC eventually released him back in June 2018.
Mumbai City FC signed him in October 2018 where he played a vital part in Mumbai City FC’s solid defence. He went onto make 10 appearances for the club in ISL this season.
Jamshedpur had a disappointing campaign in the ISL, finishing in fifth position for the second consecutive season in the league. It has to be seen how much difference the 27-year old Goan Defender Lourenco would make to the Jamshedpur team.
