As the Indian Super League season has ended, most of the ISL franchises have shifted their focus on building the team for the next season. The two time champions of the competition ATK are one of the front-runners in this battle of signings between the franchises as they are trying to catch some big fishes this time around.
Inspite of building a good team this season, the Kolkata franchise failed to make it to the semis again. The team management is clearly not happy with the current Head Coach Steve Coppell and he in all probability is not going to be seen in the dugout of ATK next season as the management has already started knocking the doors of other candidates for this role, one of whom is an old known face.
Besides, the team has started approaching some prominent players as well for the next season and their priority is the striking department as lack of goals was the major issue of the team this season. According to our sources, ATK has approached Bengaluru FC’s star striker Miku whose contract with BFC will expire on 31st May of this year.
The Venezuelan international striker has been one of the most prominent names in Indian football in the past couple of seasons as he had major contribution behind Bengaluru’s success in the past two seasons. The 33-Year old striker holding the dual citizenship of Hungary and Venezuela netted 5 goals in 12 appearances this season in ISL for the champions BFC.
ATK is ready to pay Miku more than what he gets at Bengaluru now. ATK reportedly also approached Bengaluru’s captain Sunil Chhetri whom they were ready to pay more than what his current employers do but Chhetri is reluctant to leave Bengaluru FC. Now, it remains to be seen what Miku decides regarding his future.
