Jobby Justin finally joins Kolkata based ISL franchise ATK for a three year long deal as it was officially announced by the Red and Whites today. A lot of melodrama took place at Kolkata regarding Jobby joining the flying tigers leaving East Bengal.
Jobby had a terrific season for the Red and Golds under Spanish coach Alejandro Menendez as he scored nine goals out of his seventeen appearances in the I-League making him one of the highest Indian goal scorers in the current season. ATK were desperate to bring in the promising Keralite forward on board from the mid of the last season as they were in a mission to sharpen their offence by adding him in the squad for the upcoming season.
TalkSports 24X7 also reported in December that Jobby Justin in all probability would join ATK this season.
We were able to get an exclusive reaction of Jobby Justin after the official announcement from ATK. As the twenty six year old star forward said, “I am very excited to join the side of two times ISL champions as I am hopeful of winning the ISL next season for ATK.” When asked about his plans and expectations in ATK Jobby sounded quite confident as he said, “I have a lot of things in mind to do for ATK as I will get great players like Manuel Lanzarote and Edu Garcia to play with, which surely will increase my potential to play better for my team.”
“I am a professional player so I need to look for the better league, I was playing in the I-League but in India the best league for now is ISL and ATK is one of the best clubs playing there so I got a good offer and looked forward to it and I will answer this why with my performance for ATK” said Jobby when Talk Sports 24×7 asked him about the reason of leaving East Bengal.
He also added “I will always be indebted and thankful to East Bengal because from there only the name Jobby Justin was created in Indian football, they made me what I am today and I will always have a special place in my heart for them.”
Jobby seemed to be a lot influenced and spellbound with the performance of Edu Garcia and Mnuel Lanzarote for the Kolkata based ISL franchise as he said, “I have learned a lot from the foreign players at East Bengal and the coach and supporting staffs has also helped me a lot to develop and I am sure to learn more from my new team mates as I am really excited to play along with Lanzarote and Edu. In fact I saw Lanza scoring the screamer last day at Super Cup and was feeling lucky to get a chance of playing and learning from him”
Addition of Jobby Justin to the Red and White squad will surely provide a huge much needed boost to the ATK offence. As this Keralite prodigy is expected to add terrific versatility and sharpness with his performance in the upcoming season but before that he would have to complete the pending three match suspension by AIFF.
ATK are determined to strengthen their striking department this season and have approached multiple big names including BFC duo Chhetri and Miku the first of whom has turned down the proposal. In the meantime the addition of Jobby Justin will surely be a positive boost for the recruiters.
