Quess East Bengal football club has decided to offer a contract extension for VP Suhair TalkSports 24X7 can confirm.
The 26-year old striker from Kerala came into prominence while playing for United Sports Club in Kolkata. In 2016, Suhair played for Gokulam Kerala in the Kerala Premier League. He was a goal poacher during his time at the United SC in Calcutta Football League.
His stellar performances in the 2016 season caught the eyes of the Kolkata giants East Bengal and eventually they signed him up for the next season. Suhair had a very memorable debut for East Bengal as he scored a hat-trick against Rainbow AC in the CFL. He became fourth East Bengal player to score on debut for the club.
Expectations were high on him going into the 2017 I-league season, but things went awry for him. Suhair suffered ankle injury on the eve of season opener against Shillong Lajong and ended the season without playing a single match in I-League and the club eventually sent him on loan to Gokulam Kerala FC.
Suhair had a decent outing in 2018-19 I-League season for Gokulam Kerala.
“East Bengal has contacted my agent for an extension in contract for the next season, we are in talks but nothing has been finalised yet,” said VP Suhair to us.
It has to be seen how far this contract extension talks goes on and whether it will end on a positive note for both player and the club concerned.
After the departure of Joby Justin, the management is desperate to secure the services of a proven Indian striker and Suhair came up as an immediate solution for them. In the meantime Brandon Vanlalremdika has extended his contract with the Red and Gold untill 2021.
