Gaurav Bora, one of the best defenders of last I-League speaks on his immediate future

News sparkled that emerging young defender Gaurav Bora who headed Chennai City FC to I-League champions’ glory is in talks with ISL side ATK. But it seems to be not true as the young guy from Assam himself confirmed Talk Sports 24×7 that “I have no such offer from ATK and the rumour that spread is completely wrong.”

Bora is an indigenous ace defender in the making as he had a brilliant season for Chennai City FC under gaffer Akbar Nawas. Gaurav, just twenty years old scored twice against Minerva Punjab FC while Chennai was trailing in in the title deciding match of I-League to assure a win for his team, thus bringing a new dawn in Tamil Nadu football.

He came in a two year loan from ISL side Pune City FC and had a not much remarkable first season. But it was in this season that Bora climed up the steps as he forged a formidable defensive partnership with Chennai’s Spaniard defender Eslava Suarez. The duo acted as a perfect wall to thwart the oppositions’ attacks with caliber of being a perfect launch pad for creating chances that turned to terrific match winning goals.

Gaurav Bora has grown out to be one of the best Indian defenders in I-League this season and has got the eyes of Indian Football giants struck to him as he was awarded the “emerging player” of the tournament.

Bora sounded quite calm and confident as he said, “My loan in Chennai City FC is yet to end this season so I am in talks with my parent club for future decisions regarding coming season” when asked whether he will join ATK if offered in coming days.

On the other hand the two times ISL champions ATK are in an ardent mission to reconstruct their team back to a champions’ configuration as they had bitter experiences of not qualifying for the playoffs for the past two seasons. The flying tigers are quite interested to build up a young yet promising squad beside the brilliance from the likes of Edu-Lanza-Johnson as they have already took on board players like Jobby Justin, Sosairaj, Komal Thatal and Boris for the next season.
