East Bengal are on the verge of signing 26 year old FC Goa Custodian Lalthuammawia Ralte on loan. East Bengal Coach Alejandro Menéndez García has shown faith in the FC Goa goalie in their bid to win the I-League title after a long wait. The I-League Champion will be a big boost for Quess East Bengal FC as goalkeeping woes have haunted the Red and Golds in the last few seasons.
Ralte began his professional career with Shillong Lajong Football Club in 2011 debuting against Churchill Brothers in a 1-3 loss on 17 September 2011. He went on to make 40 appearances for the Northeast club during 2011-2014. Later on he joined the defending I-League Champions Bengaluru FC in 2014 making his debut on 17 January 2015 against Dempo Sports Club where he kept his first cleansheet for his club. In his debut season with Bengaluru, he has made 20 appearances and helped them to win I-League.
In July 2015, Ralte was loaned to Northeast United in the Indian Super League where he failed to make an appearance. Back at Bengaluru FC he lost his place to India No.1 Keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and was subsequently transfered to FC Goa in 2018. The unlucky custodian again came under the shadows of young keeper Nawaz, not being able to make a single appearance was on sent on loan to Kerala Blasters in January 2019, again loosing out his place to India U-17 World Cup Goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.
Now it remains to be seen how the Spanish gaffer of East Bengal utilizes his new option if he finally arrives. East Bengal’s neighbours ATK have already roped in Ralte’s teammate at Blasters Dheeraj Singh on a 5 year contract as we confirmed one day ago.
