Tajikistan will be beginning their Intercontinental Cup 2019 campaign against a stern India side today at Ahmedabad. Tajikistan have been in a bad phase recently as they have lost all five matches that they have played under their new coach but they will be looking to begin their Intercontinental campaign with a win against the hosts. Here let’s have a look at five of their players to watch out for in the Intercontinental Cup:
● Siyovush Asrorov :
The 26 year old centre-back Siyovush will be expected to lead the backline for Tajikistan. The 6 Feet 2 Inches tall centre back currently plies his trade for PKNP FC in the Malaysian Super League. Before moving to Malaysia, he was part of Tajikistan Side FC Istikol where he made 69 appearences scoring 8 goals. He has been a regular member of the squad having made 35 appearances for his country after making his debut in 2014 and will be a tough nut to crack for the opponent attackers.
● Sheriddin Boboev :
Tajikistan will be hoping that their young 20 year old striker Sheriddin Boboev has his scoring boots on during the Intercontinental Cup. Having made his international debut for Tajikistan in 2017 against Nepal, Sheriddin has been termed as the future of Tajikistan. Tajikistan Coach is likely to give the young striker enough gametime during the Intercontinental Cup. Sheridan plays his club football for FC Istikol having scored 20 Goals in 36 Appearances for his club. In 2017 he was sent on loan to Barkchi where he managed to score 5 goals in 25 appearances.
● Rustam Yatimov :
The 20 year old Goalkeeper Rustam would most likely be given the opportunity of guarding the goal for Tajikistan in the Intercontinental Cup. Rustam plays for FC Istikol having made 7 appearances for them. He recently made his international debut for Tajikistan on 7 June in a 1-1 draw against Afghanistan.
● Amirbek Juraboev :
Tajikistan will be dependent on their midfielder Amirbek for ball distribution during the match. The 23 year old plays his club football for FC Istikol having made 57 appearance and scoring 4 Goals since joining them in 2016. Amirbek made his international debut for Tajikistan on 7 June 2014 against Estonia and has since been a regular member of the national team.
● Sharafdzhon Solehov :
The 19 year old midfielder plays for the Tajik side CSKA Pamir Dushanbe. Sharafdzhon is another young talent who is poised to be the future of Tajikistan Football. Solehov made his senior team debut on 13 December 2018 against Oman, scoring his first goal for Tajikistan in the same game.
