ISL giants ATK is all set to secure the services of Spanish attacking midfielder Javier Hernandez Gonzalez for the upcoming season of ISL. Sources close to Talk Sports 24×7 can confirm that the Spaniard has signed in a two year deal with the Kolkata based ISL franchise on an undisclosed transfer fee.
The 30 year old medio has last played at Polish club KS Cracovia for the previous two seasons scoring 15 goals besides assisting 9. Javi started his youth career from Real Madrid Castilla at the age of sixteen where he grabbed as many as 34 appearances before being loaned out to Swedish club Halmstads BK. He has also played for clubs at Romania and Azerbaijan before moving out to play in Poland. Gonzalez had one of his best seasons at Poland as he made Gornik Leczna earn a spot for the previous phases of Europa League.
We reported earlier that ATK is all set to part ways with Spaniard Edu Garcia and it seems Javier Gonzalez is the replacement to join ATK alongside Manuel Lanzarote, David Williams Roy Krishna and McHugh for the upcoming season. Antonio Lopez Habas is well known for his game with pace as he always likes to use players who add an extra speed to his wings. It seems the sloth off the ball movement of Edu Garcia compelled ATK management to opt for a better option as it would have been tough for Garcia to fit into Habas’ tactics thus making way for Salamanca midfielder Javi Hernandez formed in Asian football with the two times ISL champions.
