The 2019-20 Indian Super League is just few hours away from kickoff as Kerala Blasters faces ATK on Sunday at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium Kochi.
Kerala Blasters’ newly appointed headcoach Elco Schattorie is all excited for the kickoff and is up to face a huge challenge from ATK but the Dutch coach seems to be confident in his team. He is backed by big guns including local lads Rahul, Sahal Abdul Samad and new additions like Ogbeche, Cido and Arques.
Speaking to media yesterday, Elco commented,
“Opening games are always difficult, there is going to be huge expectations, that is part of the game. It is all about stabilising the team, I think we are ready to face ATK. They have a very strong squad and are one of the best teams in the league”.
Kerala looks decent on paper but the loss of Sandesh Jhingan will be a huge set back and Eelco will be forced to forge a new defencive partnership without the Indian International. Other than Sandesh, Mario Arques is also recovering from an injury and is doubted to start against ATK.
ATK on the other hand will miss Anas Edathodika and Jobby Justin due to suspension, ATK looks to be the better side on paper as the attack will be led by A-League golden boot winner Roy Krishna accompanied by David Williams which will be a tough one to stop for the Tuskers.
The match seems to be an interesting one and promises to entertain as two attacking powers face head to head in front of a packed gallery at Kochi.
