Indian football is standing in front of a landmark announcement as Mrs. Nita Ambani, chairperson of ISL and FSDL co pvt Ltd is going to introduce VAR in ISL today, TalkSports 24×7 can confirm that.
Although VAR ie. Video assistant referee technology was invented in the early 2010s but it was first used in professional football in 2017 in Australian A-League. Later it was used in the Bundesliga, FIFA World Cup, La liga and most of the renowned football leagues in the world and became popular. Where FIFA President Sepp Blatter was strongly against any new technology introducing to football his successor Gianni Infantino warmly welcomed this technology. However VAR was not a completely errorless technology but surely it was revolutionary in refereeing system.
After successfully using this technology in various league and World cup, ISL was in top demand to bring VAR in the competition. Especially this 2019-20 season is running into multiple controversies from the first match between Kerala Blasters vs ATK, amplifying the demand of introducing the VAR to the fans. The demands just rose after every match as refereeing was utterly not up to the mark.
Nita Ambani called a press conference in Famous studio,Mumbai and is expected to launch the VAR system in ISL officially.
