Two times ISL champions ATK and visitors Mumbai City FC shared the spoils after a stunning equalizer from Fijian star Roy Krishna at the 96th of the match. ATK still remain top of the table while Mumbai City FC hold their position.
TalkSports 24×7 analysed the match and churned out five main talking points from the match.
1) First Indian goal scorer for ATK :
ATK finally found their Indian goal scorer in the form of Soosairaj at the 38th minute of the match when Edu got the ball in the right flank and kept the ball with him playing one-two with Williams and made a brilliant through ball for Soosairaj in the left who just placed the ball in the back of the net and send the home crowd into delirium. Michael Soosairaj who scored four goals for Jamshedpur last season was yet to score for his new team. He was refused by the bar once when he individually created a chance for him with a beautiful curler from the left top edge of the box which easily beat the Hyderabad goalkeeper but got rebounded from the bar.
2) Edu Garcia In The First XI :
Edu Garcia finally made into the first XI after five matches. It seemed that Habas would probably use him as a substitute in this season but Habas surely got impressed by his performance in the past five matches. The Spanish played just 68 minutes and scored 3 goals, competing for the highest goal scorer in the ISL before this match. Agus Garcia was compromised giving Edu the nod which probably made ATK defence little stumbling.
3) Mumbai City Bounced Back In Kolkata :
After a good start in Kochi against Kerala Blasters with a 1-0 win, Mumbai City FC failed to continue their run in the next matches. They faced a couple of defeats and draws in next 4 matches. But in spite of another draw against ATK they looked orderly and especially in the second half they showed top class performance and created many chances. As Pratik Chowdhury found anequalizer at 62nd minute of the match from a corner with a header at the near post. Mumbai got the lead few minutes before the end of the match when Bipim Singh played a one-two and arranged it for Kevin Aboue before he tucked the ball pass ATK goalie Arindam Bhattacharya.
4) Agus Garcia’s Absence :
ATK definitely missed Agus Garcia in the match. Agus-Anas duo made ATK defence well drilled in the last five matches. ATK just conceded one goal from open play in the entire ISL this season against Kerala Blasters which was their first match. After that match they were becoming opponent’s nightmare in every match. So why he was not being played?ATK coach Habas confirmed TalkSports 24×7 that Agus Garcia was not in playing condition as he lost 4 kg weight during the break.
5) Violence Spoiled The Match :
There were a total of 26 fouls were committed in the whole match along with three yellow cards. Carl McHugh left the match at sixty minute of the match after he faced a serious injury from a dangerous foul from visitor side. It seemed every minute there was a clash between opponent players. Referring will surely face questions once again as Mumbai City was lucky to end the match with eleven players last night. Definitely this violence spoiled the beauty of the match. ATK coach Habas also blamed it for this result. But surprisingly Mumbai City coach Jorge Costa refused this and remained completely at the opposite direction as he said, “I am satisfied with my team’s performance and I love this type of game”.
