Kibu Kerala Blasters - "ISL is the top level": Blasters gaffer Kibu Vicuna

Kerala Blasters are all set to take on NorthEast United FC today after a shaky start to their campaign. Coach Kibu Vicuna mentioned about the importance of taking his team back to the winning ways as they lock horns with Gerard Nus’ Northeast United FC, “NEUFC had a very good game against a Strong Mumbai City FC; they have an organized defense with pacey counter attacks through the wings”.

Coach was vocal when the questions rose regarding their first game against ATK Mohun Bagan and star Indian Midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad as the I-League winning Spaniard commented, “We controlled the entire match against a tough ATK Mohun Bagan side but we lacked in the final third”.

“He (Sahal) is an important player for us and he’s special talent; he had his chances last game and is sure he will be very important for us throughout the season.”, Kibu said on Sahal.

He added on saying, “ISL is a top level competition. We witnessed 10 teams playing and the results are very close”. The Blasters’ gaffer admits that this season is going to be very open and even to all the teams in the league.

Kibu also had an update of KBFC’S big money signing Nishu Kumar and exciting young talent Rahul K, “The team is very happy to have both, they are training well, when they are 100% fit they will be back to help us”.

Puitea who attended the press conference with the coach was soon thrown questions regarding the bio-bubble scenario and repeated COVID tests and how he feels with the KBFC family. “Twice a week COVID tests and bio bubble has been quite used to us now. I am really happy with Kerala Blasters and ready to take up any challenges to fight for my starting position”.

Considering a good amount has been spent by Kerala Blasters in the summer, Kibu declined to take the conversation around this topic and soon took a defensive stance by stating that KBFC is in a process of a change where performances, passion and professional displays have an important role. He also praised the players’ attitude of how they adapted to his tactics and style of play exactly how he took his fprmer team Mohun Bagan to the I-League glory in a given short time.

There is lot to expect for Kerala Blasters and it’s fans (Manjappada) as the hungry and gentle Spaniard promises to be that missing spark in this Blasters side who can take them to their maiden glory.
