“I am happy with the team’s attitude, but we have to improve a lot”, said Sergio Lobera after a much awaited win against his former side FC Goa, as Mumbai City edged over FC Goa with a 1-0 win in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The star-studded team Mumbai was not able to impress much until the late substitutions, when questioned on losing the ball frequently Lobera told, “We need to improve, we need to play faster, but the most important thing is the attitude of my players.” First half was difficult for MCFC as Goa’s pressing game was evident, they were creating chances but lacked to finish.
Ogbeche was seen on the bench today as Le Fondre took charge in the front raising a question on the fact that whether the two top guns can fit together in the starting XI in future? Lobero brushed off all the speculations as he said, “No it’s possible, I think they can play together, but I think in today’s game, I know how Goa plays so I thought of this option” when quizzed.

The late substitutes became clinical for Mumbai, as the last quarter saw Mumbai, who lacked to maintain possession majorly in the front seat. A superb cross by Cy Goddard and header by substitute Bipin Singh resulted in the last-minute penalty. Lenny Rodrigues conceded the penalty with a handball. After a frustrating loss against NorthEast United this match against FC Goa at last brought a pleasant night for Sergio Lobero and his team.
